Canon Powershot G1 U/W housing

  1. Everyone...I'm looking for a housing for my G1 but seems my choices are very limited. Looks like the best way is to get another camera, if I do that I'll step up to a Olympus e20 or some other digital SLR. I'd like to get some options from you guys?? Anyone have a custom case?

  2. The G1 is a fine installation in the ikelite housing but it capabilities have been dwarfed by the newer Canon G2, Olympus and Nikon Coolpix cameras............

  3. Ike,

Thanks for your thoughts, I agree the G2 surpasses the G1 along with the latest in the mid-priced field. However if I was going to get another camera I would *probably* chough up the dough for an EOS D1 along with all the toys. Any of the mid-priced camera's are limited when it comes to lenses and features compared to a SLR. Considering what I paid for my G1 when new compared with the list price of the G2 it almost makes me sick. I'm hoping that in another year the price of the EOS and comparable Nikon's, Fuji's and Olympus cameras will drive prices down to the $1K mark. We shall see...

Again, thanks for the Ikelight tip. I've heard some good things about their cases but just wanted more options. I wish the Tetra accommodated the G1/G2's.

  4. I've been using the G2 in an ike housing for about 6 months now. It is great. Simple, complete, rugged, and nearly foolproof - since there is only one point of sealing, and it is all clearly visible *AFTER* you put it all together!

I can't imagine why you would wish to pay more for a titan housing. Especially for this price range of cameras.

If you want to house the G1, you can be confident in the quality of the ike housing.
