  1. Hey all,

the Photo Marketing Association's Photo and Imaging Expo is on this coming weekend at Darling Harbour in Sydney. All the gadgets wll be there... some UW, but mostly the dry stuff. Friday is trade-only, but Saturday and Sunday are for everyone. You should pre-register for a free entry ticket on the web site.

The trade show also coincides with the public judging of the Canon APPAs (Australian Professional Photography Awards). The judging is great chance to hear the country's top pros give their opinion on lots of great contemporary professional photography from many genre.

The judging process is very open and transparent and everyone is invited to sit in and see how it is done. Prints are anonymously judged, one at a time, by a panel of 5 pros who score the image out of 100 points. The merits or otherwise of contentious images are often debated, which is a fabulous way to hear what makes or breaks a great picture.

The Judging Schedule can be found here so you can pop by when a category that interests you is being judged.

And if you're there on Saturday afternoon I'll be around the Canon stand for a couple of hours if you want to catch up. It would be cool to meet some fellow watery-picture types there!
