Can any one help me I have a Nikon D200 in an Ikelite Housing and I am having synching problems with my DS125 strobes where my strobes would not fire. It happened half way through a dive. If I turn the strobes off and on again they will fire once but then not again.
I have experimented at home by trying different sync cords and the same problem so I don’t think it is the cord. Also when I disconnected the camera from the housing and then reconnected it the same thing happens fires once but then not again. I believe it may be the bulk head but it all appears dry.
Any ideas what it could be?????
Try cleaning all cable and shoe connections with alochol. Maybe a speck of water or some o ring grease on a contact.
Might there be a short in the bulkhead connector wires?
Thanks guys i'll give that a go and see what happens.
OK it gets more complicated. I have cleaned the connections with alcohol so thts done. I have a Ikelite double sync cord, now the cord with the red band on will allow one strobe to fire in manual mode only when the other strobe is turned off. I have tried it on both strobes and they are the same. I have also a small DS50 strobe which I have tried with a single sync cord it works perfectly in TTL and Manual. When I use the single sync cord on both the DS125 they don’t work. If I connect the DS50 to the double sync cord it will also not work.
Confused? I am
Sounds like you need to talk to Ikelite. I've only had to email them once but found them very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately it might mean a trip back to the States for your strobes.
I am not familiar with Ike strobes, so what I write here might be totally useless to you.
Do your strobes have a slave mode? is it in slave mode? if it is try turning the slave off. I had a simialr experience with a sea and sea strobe and it was as simple as turning a switch back to the correct position. ( I just hope DuncanS doesn't see this posting )
Whatever the problem I hope it isnt expensive.

Maybe....
Try the setting on the bottom of the housing back. Move it to the DS-125/160. Sounds like it si set to the DS-51 side.
Yea there's no slave mode on Ikelite strobes but thanks for the advice.
I have them switch over on the DS125 side so that’s not it either.
I'm just waiting to hear back from Ikelite for now.
Its a bit tricky when your all the way down in NZ, thank goodness for the internet and forums like this where you can bounce ideas around.
