There is a 6 week waiting list for the AD7000 so I doubt you will get one this month
Sad but true... I ordered mine June 2nd and am now just about to receive the new housing this week or next.
As far as Backscatter is concerned, it may be beneficial to you to register with them on their website.
Their shipping terms state they only ship to the registered billing address of the credit card holder, which is usually your home address.
However you can usually register another address with your credit card company as an authourized shipping address and they will gladly ship to that address.
From Backscatter's Shipping and Delivery Policies:
AUTHORIZED SHIP TO ADDRESSES
To protect against mail fraud and identity theft, we only ship to addresses authorized by your issuing credit card company. If you wish to ship to an address other than your billing address, please contact your card company and ask that they add your ship to address as an authorized address on your account.
This "authourized shipping to address" need not be in your country of residence as I routinely have products purchased in the United States shipped to an address very close to the border between Canada and the United States. Since I live within 20 km. of the border I am able to cross the border and pick up my packages with a minimum of fuss. This way I am able to avoid huge brokerage fees when declaring my purchases upon re-entering Canada.
Bottom line is: Check with your credit card issuer to see if you can list the hotel you are staying at as an authourized shipping address for the duration of you stay in New York. This may help you greatly should you find a suitable housing on the internet while staying in New York.
Good Luck
