Over tall posedonia seagrass beds in the Costa Brava there were little schools of juvenile yellow fish which I expect to be seabreams. Unfortunately I can't find much help in identifying them on the internet. I thought they were all the same but the images show a small slender one with a bold or faint spot on the tail base, pictured below, and a higher-bodied all yellow version that were also a bit bigger (next post). I don't know if the latter are simply an older stage of the former (but I wouldn't expect them to loose the tail base spot which the adults have) or if these are two different seabreams. Any help or pointers to information would be appreciated.

Here are the images for the slightly larger higher-bodied individuals
My instinct would look to the side of "Oblada melanura" or "Diplodus sp.".
The yellow color is probably from local food, documented juveniles on books or website will probably be grey : )
good luck !
Thanks, I also thought about juvenile Diplodus, in particular annular and white bream, as they are very common in the area. Was hoping to get to an actual species as you can often do with Caribbean juvenile grunts but will leave it at Diplodus spp then.

Hi! How many inches was this fish?
It's been two years but from my recollection they were about one inch
