Sea of Cortez, Sun Beams, D7000 and Aquatica

  1. So first trip out with the Nikon D7000 and the "new" Aquatica housing. First have to say the way the D7000 at a Shutter Speed of 320 deals with sunbeams is far superior to my old D200. In general very happy with the cameras performance. Shot some video and will post that later but did have some issues getting it to white balance on occasion and just would set it to Cloudy. In addition the hydra phone picked up the sound of the lens hunting for focus. With a little tweaking in FCE it looks ok. The Aquatica housing preformed well and think the positioning of the controls is much improved vs. previous D100 and D200 housings. Had one button that is a little sticky but a little silicone on on the inside shaft helped.

  2. Very nice,is that a Dorado in the last frame?

  3. Yes that is a Dorado, as mentioned not much for fishing but jumped in and rattled off a couple of shots, much harder than you think. The goal was to find a weed patch they school under and see if we could get pictures of them that way but no luck. This fish was released.

  4. Nice one, great camera isn't it?

  5. It is an excellent camera, but reality is in my case the cameras have never been the limiting factor, lol. But to be able to shoot over ISO400, the faster sync speed and video makes it a great choice for me. Seems you are enjoying it to, did you try much video?
