unusual mouth growth in anthias

  1. Hi folks,

Think I posted this on the wrong thread so will try this one.

    Anyone ever see this before?

It looks to me like its a growth in the anthias's mouth- the poor fish was swimming around with its mouth permanently open!

    Any insights appreciated.

  2. Anthias are prone to lockjaw. Usually it goes away after a short while. This question now and then arises in aquarist fora.

  3. Thanks very much for that Helmut.

'Lock jaw' is a perfect description!
