Flying with Strobes

3 posts
  1. Is it ok to fly with batteries in your strobes, and the battery compartment sealed?

  2. It is against the rules - as a fire hazard (if the strobe/torch got turned on and overheated). If you can remove them, do. If not you can secure the on-off switch - so they cannot turn on.

Most airports do not enforce this rule. I have flown all over the world with my non-removeable batter Subtronic strobes and Sola light.

But a few airports are strict on this. Germany was very good at enforcing this rule - which led to Subtronic designing strobed with external batteries.

  3. For a moment I had a wonderful mental image of a strobe with wings over a tropical blue sea...

... do I need to see a doctor?
