old unbanded ikelite to ikelite sync cords

7 posts
  1. Hi folks.

I've got a couple single and one dual ikelite to ikelite sync cords. No blue bands. But I just measured with an ohm meter, and all 5 wires are present, straight through.

So can they be used in a modern ike housing, to a ds strobe? Or has the wiring been changed to some cross over pattern?

    Thanks!

  2. if they just worked, i am sure they would not have changed it. I think your DS strobes might still fire in manual, but not with the controls on the housing. Something with continuous power to the ttl circuitry.

  3. Anyone know for sure?

Otherwise I'll email ikelite. Oh for the days ike was here, answering our questions...

  4. Check the website as i know i switched to bluebanded cord for a reason. There was a full page on the subject. I shoot with an ikelite ai a strobe.

  5. I forgot to mention, that website is where I started.

It seems to indicate the old sync cords had only 4 conductors connected. Particularly it seems to be talking about the cords with one nikonos connector, and one ike connector.

My ike to ike cables clearly have 5 separate connectors wired all the way through, straight through, which is the only way I could image them being wired...

Guess I'll have to email ikelite.

    Thanks!

    Don

  6. I heard back from ikelite, who said as long as all 5 connectors are conductive, it will work fine.
