I would like to uniquely identify some black SD cards and am concerned about any white paint flaking off in the camera.
Do you think a vibrating marking pen would damage the internals?
Any other suggestions ???

Magic marker
small sticker?
I won't use anything that might flake off in the camera.
permanent marker
I find permanent marker comes off over time - but as long as you go over it again from time to time - no problem.
Good way to differentiate yours on a busy liveaboard. Write "MUSTARD 1", "MUSTARD 2" etc on them - and I'll steal them!

I use small stickers on all my cards.
I use small stickers on all my cards.
I keep the little plastic cases that enclose the cards. I use painter's tape (less sticky than masking) on the case and write information in soft pencil on this lable. When erasing the data isn't worth it, replace with new tape.

All good suggestions guys, but where can I get a white one?
SD cards are black!

Try the Sharpie METALLIC silver markers. Make sure they are metallic type. Never had a problem with rubbing off.

Sounds good,
Thanks
These are great, and you can mark them up with paint pens, stickers, etc...

Slightly off topic but I have a wireless Eye-Fi card - http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/82695/show.html
1) It's orange
2) You don't need to take it out of your camera. Just put it by your laptop or iPad and download
Also useful for studio work where you might want to review shots on the PC
Since initially posting on this, I have used the recommendation for Sharpie Metalics, in gold, and 7 months later there is no wear off seen.
A good recommendation!
I also use the metallic silver marker to mark everything, especially when on a live aboard. The silver really stands out and it doesn't seem to wear off very quickly over time. It's definitely my favorite for marking all my dive and video gear.
