How to pack my camera rig and set bouyancy?

5 posts
  1. Hi guys,

I have brought my new setup (Lx5 + 10Bar housing + tray / arm + YS01) and prepping for a dive trip this weekend.

I was thinking of using my large shoebag to house my rig, and wrap it with thick towel as cushion.

    Is this cheapo packing adequate?

Another thing about bouyancy...I think this weighs about 1-2kg. Without those floats/foams attached like I saw online, does anyone here have difficulty handling the camera underwater?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Yes, if you always hand carry it and never let it out of your possession.

  3. Soft pack coolers (like for soda & beer) are great for local camera transport. Different sizes available & padding protects rig. Can also use for personal raise tank at end of day.

That's exactly what I do for boat dives and weekend trips away on the car.

  5. I wrap mine in a towel and carry in a shopping basket. It makes it easy to rinse it of on the beach if you dont have anything to dunk it in...unfortunately I cant suggest where to buy a shopping basket!
