0-rings for an older Light and Motion Stingray (TR700)

  1. I have a TR700 L&M camera housing with the old style halogen Sunray classic lights, and the whole thing still works perfectly. I contacted L&M and they told me they no longer support this unit. All I am looking for is some 0-rings for the housing, light head and the battery pods (these are the pods that take the Mikita battery), as they are getting pretty old.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Did you ask L&M for the size of these o-rings. Even thought they don't support the units, one would think that design drawings would still be on file. They should still know the sizes.

Alternately, take them out and measure them. My guess is that they are commercial sizes (at least the light head and pod) which you can get from a wide array of places

  4. Craig,

I'm a bit surprised they didn't offer some help with dimensions and rubber type at least. Did your inquiry include such a request?

Failing that, my local fallback is - hold on - my Caterpillar dealer. If you take the old ones in they should be able to match them, at least if they resemble my local Ringpower dealer who has tons of different diameters, thicknesses and compounds.

Thanks for the ideas. I did put in a request for dimensions to L&M. Hopefully they will get back to me. Thanks again!

  6. I was able to get individual part numbers for all the 0-rings from a nice lady at Light and Motion. They actually have all of them (even for the old light pods) in stock, but but no longer sell them in "kits"

    Again, thanks for your suggestions!

  7. Since you now have the proper sizes, you can probably buy them a lot cheaper from an industrial parts store that stocks o-rings. Would suggest buna-n compound (the black ones). Standard durometer is 70 (hardness rating) which should be fine.

Thanks a bunch, I will give that a try for sure!
