  2. Hello!

I am a newcomer, so first hi everyone -

I happen to own two mangrove video lights - vc-l46, wich are basically the same setup, but with integrated battery packs -

this works for me fine, since my housing doesn't have a special screw to mount the plate (comes in separately...)

find them a bit bulky to adjust, but got used to it.

it is my first video light system, so I have got no comparison, can only give u the feedback

the lights are quite strong, running time is approximately 45 to 55 minutes - i found out it is greatly reduced if you keep switching them on and off -

i do most my dives in apnea, so it was quite a bummer

apart from that, I find the white balance ok, changes with the lower intensity a bit.

regarding photos - I used it for macro with canon 100mm + 5dmkII - the ISO settings for f8 and 125s is min 800, prefer more.

video works for macro with 50s and f14+ with same ISO

since that high ISO is acceptable for 5d mkII, I don't find it a problem.

the overall craftsmanship of the lights is simple, I had a switch malfunction with one light on three separate dives, now it works fine - haven't found the problem yet. it annoyed me at the time, since I couldn't find a solution.

Would recommend the lights regarding price/output ratio.

    best regards

    Ivan

  3. oh, and one thing - with video go for settings ISO 640 or 1250

    thanks Ivan

End up going for the same units as yourself VCL 46, as also wanted to use the lights as a diver carry light to show depth of field on some of the shots, got to say I am very impressed , wont be bothering with the L&M 1200's any more as these units really kick,

Also great prices, just ordered direct from the web site, arrive less than a week later, via DHL

May I know if this video light has soft smooth edge or not? I am really interested in this light, thanks.

edges are smooth , with slow transitions, very wide ,

side by side the L&M lights seem to have a more while/blue light where the Mangrove has warmer tones
