Flash glare from inside of housing on Dome Port

8 posts
  1. I have recently put together an Aquatica system for my Nikon D-7000 and have experienced flash reflection from inside the housing when the camera body flashes to trigger my Sea & Sea YS-01 strobes. Is there something I'm doing wrong with the setup? - I should also mention that this testing is out of the water. The reflection effect is in the corners of the picture / edge of Dome.

  2. Make sure that the housing's flash button is turned away from the camera flash button when you put it in the housing so that it does not lean against the flash button which could cause the camera flash to pop open and trigger the flash...also make sure that your camera focus light and red eye reduction is turned of.

Also make sure that your strobes are behind pointing away from the port.

Sorry but i cant think of anything else!!!

  3. Others have mentioned placing a dark foam ring around the lens to fill the void between the lens and the port. This is done to keep the light from escaping from the housing and reflecting off the inside of the dome and into the lens.

So I'm not crazy then - You have heard of this before? - with the fiber optic system the flash lid on the D-7000 has to be up obviously to trigger the strobe, correct? -

I will work on the foam ring idea.

    Thanks!

  5. Yes I have read this before.

In the google search box to the right put this including the + symbols +reflections +internal +flash +dome and press enter.

You will get a list of problems / solutions.

Here is a link to a good one. http://www.seacamusa.com/most-recent-1740reflections.shtml

    Have a great Dive

  6. This was solution offered by Reef Photo when they converted my housing to fibre optics:

  7. Update for those with an Aquatica AD7000 - Aquatica is selling a rubber ring to block light leaking from cameras flash through housing. Price - $20

  8. I am the great fan of the photographer and this is the thing that i have variety of the cameras.

But i am fully satisfied with the results of the Nikon D-7000.
