St Croix ID

Saw this under the pier on St Croix on a night dive. Hiding under a rock formation, there was no chance to see anything except what is shown in the photo.

In about 30 ft of water, the head reminded me of a lizardfish head shape and matched that size but with no visible scales. I find nothing similar in my limited book selection at home.

It's a grouper - Coney, Cephalopholis fulva.

Note the small blue spots covering the body and the black spots on the lip. Nice Pic.
