Sharks, and more sharks

  1. Finally.....some sharks that would cooperate (for sharks that is) and more than one or two at a time. We were on the Turks and Caicos Aggressor in mid September for some much needed down time and of course diving. It seems that every time I have hopes of seeing sharks/taking pics - they have not been kind enough to play by my wants or needs. This trip was not the case! It feels like I took hundreds of shark pics - seeing how I spent several dives just on these guys. We were also there less than 2 weeks after Hurriance Irene, so visable damage to the reef could be seen. The vis still poor and it made backscatter a challenge when shooting. Here are a few of my favs from the trip, the rest can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/pammurph. Looking forward to any feedback you guys have. I found that shooting sharks can be challenging - especially with lighting. Any suggestions are welcome. - Pam

My husband - waiting patiently while I spent the entire dive taking these shots.

Just to show you some damage from Hurriance Irene - can you imagine how beautiful this was prior to the hurricane.

  2. I love the light on shark in the second one Pam. How did you have the strobes configured? 10 & 2 above the lens?

Steve - Yes - and on one extension. This has been my setup for wide angle all of this year (changed it up after working with Alex in Cayman). I had been using 2 extensions and having trouble - this is much easier and better. I learned so much about lighting in that workshop - and I use it on every dive.

Hope your workshop went well. I loved the slides you did.

    Happy diving - Pam

  4. Nice work, DiverPam.

Was your husband being patient waiting for the shark, or, was the shark being patient waiting for your husband to pose (image #3)?

If I had to wait on my husband to pose (or pay attention to my directions underwater), then I would never get any pics with him as a model. Just happens that was were he landed to wait on me and I took advantage of that. ^_^

    Happy diving - pam
