Nikon has a new sensor supplier... a switch in progress?
-
Chipworks stripped the V/J1 and found an Aptina chip in the new Nikon range. Does this mean Nikon is making a break from Sony, even though Apple can't do it?
-
Just because they're making a 'break' for a really small sensor I wouldn't read too much into their serious camera business. (Yes, I just called the V/J1's not serious cameras...and I'm a former 4:3rds user so I know "not serious"
). Of course if they are ditching Sony there's no doubt some design cycle latency before it would show across all product lines, but hasn't their next SLR already been pre-announced using a Sony sensor? -
Nope but I think the new cameras coming in Dec. Nikon event at LACC planned.

OK. I thought I'd seen something (maybe on the Sony rumor site?) about the D800 using Sony's upcoming 36Mpix FF sensor based on the same technology at the 24mpix crop in the Sony a65/a77. Guess they were set for an October announcement but then all the flooding happened...
