  1. WARNING: NSFW (CONTAINS FEMALE NUDITY or at least topless)!!!

Just found the email in my junk folder (OPPS!) Here's a teaser of the Epic-M, shot in an underwater housing by Aqua Video by Clayton Haskell. Water is dirty but it's at 120fps @ 5k.

Again, there is a bare breasted female in the video. You have be warned!

  2. Here is the BTS which includes the scenes from the housing setup:

    *NSFW: Contains nudity!*

  3. I know I'm ignorant, but what is supposed to impress me about this video? What is it I would see if I were educated?

  4. A combination of smooth slow motion at very high resolution (5120 x 2700). You're only seeing less than 7% of the pixels because Vimeo only goes up to 720p.

  5. Nick is much kinder than I am. I just thought it was nice to see the Epic underwater in a housing. And this was 7 mths ago. It's difficult to appreciate 5k unless you have a 4k projector or monitor. Plus vimeo does recompress as well.

Love the footage and the slow mo. I think on a big screen it will be awesome. I have a Gates Deep Epic on order but now this housing is making me think again.

It looks neat and simple. I have seen the Hydroflex housing but that is made of aluminium. This Aqua Video looks to me to be carbon fibre. I like carbon fibre as you know but it is not very good for heat. The Epic pumps out quite a bit of warm air. I wonder how this housing keeps it cooled.

    Cheers

  7. I've not seen the Deep yet but I think depending on the shoot, it'll be about controls. If it's a location shoot with many changing conditions, having access to redmote will be important. I'd check the dome placement of the Aquavideo. The PL lens doesn't seem to be in direct line to the center of the dome. I remember AquaVideo announcing the housing at NAB earlier this year for under $10k for the aluminum version. Don't remember a CF version. Maybe it's the BSK guys you're thinking about?

  8. Mike Hastings from Aquavideo does have a separate housing for redmote although at the moment the WiFi power is super low so won't so through PVC let alone Aluminum. They are a heap cheaper than the Gates but I do feel that the Gates will offer a smoother operation. Mike is very flexible though with custom options and add ons and they are pretty cost effective.

  9. It's worth checking with anyone that can custom build... 20k is alot of money so any savings (without compromising you gear) is a bonus... I used to be one of those that would only buy a housing if it looked good!? I know, stoopid... As long as it does the job it can look like Lady Ga Ga designed it :B):

  10. Aww, my Hobbit link irrelevant? I thought it was interesting and educational for those interested in Epic.

  11. Moved to 3Dm Nick. Much more relevant there.

  12. Ah OK. I should start checking that one sometimes.

  13. I think it'll be interesting to see if Aquatibico will build a housing for the Epiclet. :B):

  14. Thought the footage was gorgeous and the color grading to be very professional.

Let's get it straight guys, Amphibico will only be designing VIDEO related underwater imaging equipment, Aquatica will keep excelling in the development of PHOTO related underwater imaging equipment,, they will run under one umbrella but as to separate entities.....

More to come on the RED Epic & Scarlet....from AMPHIBICO>>>
