Phenom Electronic Control Fix

  1. My Phenom went nuts on me for the last dive trip, electronics refused to work and locked up.

After pulling it all apart and changing hand pieces I finally traced it down to some tiny salt crystal build up on the bottom circuit board that sits under the sliding camera tray. It was shorting out the Lanc, so after some scrapping between the copper circuit board tracks and some alcohol, its all working again. Had me stuffed there for some time though.

I had to use the little Sony AVCHD camera in a Light and Motion Blufin stingray housing.

It had a rear LCD on the housing, its good for most shots but gets tricky for checking sharpness with my older eyes, I found it just too close to my face. The best is for a LCD + Viewfinder for sure.

I also had the new EDIUS 6 loaded up on my little i5 laptop, there I was editing NATIVE Canon 60D mov's with Sony FX1 HDV MPEG2 and Sony AVCHD all in real time with colour correction or say a 3D pip lol. You will find version 6 will edit Canon mov's better than 5.55.

last morning I rendered out the 40 minute timeline to both Pal and NTSC DVD with chapters in like 60 minutes lol.

The poor old QUAD iMac on board would of had no hope in achieving that.

  2. Hey Wags, there's a relatively new (compared to you) invention for bad eyesight, called corrective lenses for masks. :) Don't be vain or tough guy and just use them! :B):

  3. Yes the time has come :B): , although the LCD is still too close to me face with those rear LCD housings. Had to swim around with me arms out stretched.
