  1. macro surprise

Last night I was shooting some hypermacro ( 4:1 ish) using a 105 mm and an 3X teleconverter. I discovered this little shrimp on a shot I took of cup coral. the entire frame of this image is only about 1/8 of an inch lengthwise. therefore, that is one tiny shrimp!

  2. Chris,

I am humbled and impressed by your patience in using the S2 for super macro.

  3. Nice shot. I don't think Canon TC's work with any of the macro lenses. 4:1 is getting pretty extreme! I'm guessing the depth of field was as deep as possible with that magnification?

  4. Scott, thank you for the kind words

you are correct as this image was shot at f 32. In the past using film I usually used f 8 ~ f 16 at these apertures provided sharp images while allowing enough light to properly expose 100 asa provia. Now that I can change the asa settings on the fly I can use smaller apertures

If my failing memory is correct, The Kenko 300 pro teleconverters are also available for Canon mounts.

4:1! this is just a warm up exercise, My extension rings have at last arrived ! 10:1+ is my goal! Did it with film so digi should not be a problem IF I can manage to assemble a port to accept all the attachments.

  5. Hi

I doubt it's a shrimp, upon some mangnification I believe to see a gnathiid (Gnathia sp.), a very strange, insect-looking parasitic isopod

can you send me a high resolution jpg for confirmation ?
