Any hope of repair for a Canon 60mm lense?

  1. Must have pinched the oring when I closed the housing last night and hence my Sea & Sea housing flooded and ruined Canon 500d and Canon 60mm macro lens. Is there any way to repair lens?

  2. Probably not. It's a matter for insurance if you have any. Water and lenses dont mix, if it's not outright corrosion, you're likely to get fungus or something else inside the elements.

  3. We flooded a Tokina 12-24mm a few years back. Rinsed it in fresh water at the time then sent it away for repair when we got back. It cost about £200 to repair and thankfully the insurance paid out. It worked fine afterwards but it was pretty much a total rebuild apart from the glass.

All depends on the cost of a new lens compared to repair as to whether you end up with a paperweight or not. The camera at the time went in the bin as it was beyond economical repair.
