Light & Motion lights - Battery

  1. So I am in the market to invest in a new focus light. I need it primarily for macro photos and some general video. The new l&m sola 800 is of interest as it seems slightly stronger than the 600 for video but wondering if the jump to 800 or 1200 is really needed, however the battery issue is making me have second thoughts. Im wondering if they are ultimately user changeable? Has there been a thread discussion on this recently? Otherwise are there any other brands/models I should consider? I also really like the red led feature of the l&m. I like the idea of longevity in a torch. Just dont know that spending the big $ for a torch that has a non changeable rechargeable is a good idea.

You should also look at the I-torch lights. They use 4 AA batteries and have 3 white and 3 red light levels but the button pushing to get to the right setting is not as simple as the L&M lights. AFAIK you can indeed change the Sola batteries, the front unscrews and you could replace the battery pack in the future if you needed to (or have someone do it for you).
