Hi huys, I'm about to order my wce68+port this week. 2 more questions:
1) Do you "tell" the camera there's a wa lens on it (by changing settings to wa-lens) or is it better not to.
2) If you want to use the camera without the wce68, do you have to remove the dome or can you use the stadard lense with the domeport mounted on the housing? Don't know how easy it is to exchange the ports (grequently) on this housing.
Edwin
Edwin,
1. It's not necessary to use the WA lens selection in the camera.......if you do, it just presets the camera to its widest zoom........I would not use it
2. Good question.........while it's easy to change ports, I've never tried the normal lens behind the WA port......maybe someone else has?
BTW, you will love this lens and port........I use it 100% of the time with the macro mode on 100% of the time

In my *limited* experience, the ports do sometimes stick on this camera. I now carry a foam-padded oil filter wrench, and port changes are easy on the Ike housing (and the ports bear the wrench well).
"Strap wrench" Sears advertises on tv also works very well to remove ports. Break-out friction of the "O" ring can make them stick. Install by tightening very well by hand............

I can tell you from personal experience that shooting with the normal lens and the dome port is not advicable unless you want the reflection of the lens to be visible in the shot. I managed to forget my wide angle lens for a dive and had to shoot with the normal lens. Everything looked good in the camera but when I uploaded the images I could see the reflection of the lens in the shot, I hade like "Nikon 1:50" (or whatever it says on the end of the lens) like a watermark over the photo.
Won't make that mistake again
Thank you all. Think I will follow Karl and use the wa combination all of the time.

I only take out the WA lens and port to use the Inon UCL165 macro lens.
Lens reflection
I had this problem with my housed canon digital elf. I got a reflection of the end of my lens against the port or S&S WA conversion lens. I fixed it by placing some flat black electrical tape around the barrel of the camera. You can also use flat black paint but the tape is removable. This stopped the reflection. I reccommend that you do this with all shiny barrelled cameras.
hmmm, sounds like a more than reasonable tip for a newbie :-)
