Tiny, dull, Caribbean shrimp

  1. Struggling to ID this tiny shrimp. There were a couple/few of them living around this corkscrew anemone in shallow water. They were very small (as you can tell from the size of the anemone tentacles) and camouflaged.

This is the only photo I have kept. But I can post a crop if it helps (not sure it will)

p.s. Should probably photoshop out that blob of backscatter at the top of the frame!

  2. Hi Alex -- It's an interesting photo from an aesthetic point of view but not so much for identification. The short, feathery, upwards-tilting antennae remind me of some species in family Hippolytidae but I wouldn't label it as anything more than "Shrimp" based on that photo. sorry!

  3. perhaps a species of Thor, some of them like hanging out around anemones
