    What do you think?

More pics in my web site.

  2. Spectacular!

    Nudi focus/dof works well

Strobe positioning on the fishshot was a tadge high, looks like he has only one eye!

  3. Bob got the critque, I'll add my applause on the Nudi shot!

    Rand

  4. Very nice Mariano........did you use the manual controller? or TTL?

    Karl

  5. Excellent color in these shots and exposure is right on. How did you control your depth of field and focus point? Very important with such narrow depth of field.

    Sincerely,

    James

  6. Nice shots indeed. I'm shooting the coolpix in the L&M tetra housing and am curious as to your strobe setting. Manual or TTL?

  7. Very nice!

  8. Thanks to all.

I use the strobe in TTL, and about the depth of field and focus point I use f/7.6 or f/8 and T try to be carefuly :D  . I have many pics of this nudi (Flabellina babai) out of focus or with the focus out of the face, like this:

Here are another one, not so god as the first but not bad pic.

Ok thats all, you can see more pics in my web site.

  9. Hi, Great Pics!

Where in the Med did you take the pics?

    Simon

  10. Mallorca, Balearic Islands

  11. Well done. I know how hard it is to get that critical focus with that setup.

  12. Mariano, a couple of more questions on your excellent macro shots:

    1. spot focus?

    2. continuous focus?

    3. full manual? shutter speed? aperture?

    4. I've also got the Inon macro, but I've never used it with this camera. Is it only useful at closest focus or can you still get a well focused image at 12"? 18"? 24'?

I've got a 1 week liveaboard in a 1 1/2 weeks and plan on working on macro more that I usually do. Your tips with come in handy.

    Karl

  13. Hy Karl, I hope you enjoy your liveboard trip!!

For macro shots I use spot focus and metering, with not continous focus allways in totaly manual. The aperture in 8 or 7.6 and the flash in TTL (if it overexposed I try with 1/4 with the difusor.... if its overexposed to I try to mover up the flash) the sped is not important for macro shots, I use to have something betwen 60 and 125 it work wel (All the nudi pics have f/7.6 and 1/125sec. TTL, the fish 1/60sec.) I only change the sped if I want some blue or black background.

About your last point, in my opinion is the oposite option, this lens works better for not too closest up focus. With the camera I have god focus from 5 cm with the lens I do it from 20 cm (+/-) so its god option for some little fish or whem you cant be near of the subjet. The nudi pics will be better with out the lens.... but I din´t try it (I have use the Inon lens only in two dives, and this day Y whant to make all the pics with it)

I hope you can understand me, sorry for my very poor english!

    Chers and enjoy your tryp!

  14. Thanks for the answers to my questions Mariano. I understand exactly what you mean.

By the way, your English is very good! One of my few regrets in life is that I haven't learned another language. We travel to Cozumel often and this last New Year's we took our first trip to London/Paris. It humbles me when we meet people in other countries that can speak one or more languages besides their own. It is my loss that I never made the effort to learn another language. Congratulations to you!

I looked at your website again and continue to be impressed with your photos. I'll post pics from our liveaboard to Mona Island, Puerto Rico when I get back. Hope we have some good ones!

I'll bet you were completely stumped in London then Karl :)

Of course you'll have many good shots to post on your return.

  16. So true Bob!

Even English sounds like a foreign language for an 'ol Texas guy!

We loved it though........reckon we'll head back one of these days now that we know how to ride the Tube!........I thought they were talking about a rodeo ride.........LOL

    Karl

  17. Ok Karl, I´ll wait your god posts on your return!

I´ll go to one week liveboard in Maldives in 45 days!

  18. MMB, your pics are great!

Karl, I look forward to seeing your pics from Mona Island. I assume you're going on the Nekton? I lived in P.R. for 2 years and didn't make it to Mona Island because of the 8 hour boat trip it would take. (I'm prone to seasickness and it was a small dive boat) But we're thinking of doing that trip with the Nekton. It is suppose to be for advance divers since they have very strong sudden currents in Mona. Have fun! :)

  19. Karl I ran into Bob's good friend Darren on our last trip I I had no clue what he said the whole three weeks. (And we are part of the Royal empire in Canada) Nice guy though...I think. :)
