During my last dive on Santa Cruz Isl., CA I came across this thing floating around at about 30ft. It was about 8-10 ft long and all parts looked exactly alike, except that both ends seemed a little be yellowish (same critters, though). It was alive, at least the individual parts seemed to be pumping water in and out. No controlled movements, though.
I thought it might be some form of Selp, but I can't find it anywhere.
(sorry for all the back-scatter, but the swells we were having here made churned everything up).
