  1. z220/d180 what is that item on product catalog pdf

on the japanese inon site under the press release area are 2 product catalogue pdfs describing the z220/s and d180/s strobes. Both of them show a little item that has "TTL" next to it (all the rest is in japanese). these little things are on the 2nd page of the pdfs; just above the system chart on the z220/s file here:

    http://www.inon.co.jp/cgis/news/img/2004DF.../Z220_Z220S.pdf

and towards the bottom of the second page on the d180/s here:

    http://www.inon.co.jp/cgis/news/img/2004DF.../D180_D180S.pdf

    anyone know what they are?

    anyone speake japanese 8) ?

  2. Well, above the first one it says something like shutter-linked internal focus light multifunction underwater TTL autostrobe. The stuff on the bottom of the second page in the second document is telling you how to use it in different situations...like when you have the D180 as your main strobe and the Z220 as the substrobe. Hope that helps...

  3. What you see is a product that converts and electrical TTL signal into an optical one. The idea is that the optical connection is less likely to fail. It is a solid premise, since sync cord failures happen regularly. It still doesn't eliminate the connections at the bulkhead and the socket on the strobe.

Unfortunately, the product is not yet available in the US due to a patent dispute. Light & Motion sold a similar product called the opti-sync for Nikonos cameras.

  4. Remember that product image that popped up on Wetpixel for a brief time? The TTL->Optical converter? That's the product.

Unlikely to hit the States anytime soon, unfortunately.

  5. ok i see what it is and how i can be useful.

now if there is a dispute in the us, there may not be one in europe

    thanks for the help
