STROBES - Standardised ARM MOUNTING POSITIONS

  1. STROBES - Standardised ARM MOUNTING POSITIONS

This mostly concerns strobes with rectangular (strip tube) spread pattern.

To get the optimum spread for medium to wide angle coverage the tube must be in the horizontal position - Yes?

Then why do strobe manufacturers insist on incorporating the mounting on the bottom, at 90 degrees to the tube, making horizontal difficult to attain?

Surely it would be more practical to have a fixed mounting at 45 degrees (or even adjustable) so that we can set up arms more easily and attain maximum spread without adding extra arm bits ?

Please add your thoughts on this issue in the poll and words, somone may even listen!

  2. Seems if the mounting were fixed at 45 degrees you'd then have two different positions needed for the two sides, when using two strobes? => adjustable in some way would be better.

  3. You're right on that - Derrr! fixed would have to be parallel, but adjustable better!
