damaged ikilite

I have just unpacked from a trip and the rings on my ikilite 161 are bent, no other visible damage is present and they are still working and firing. I am wondering what the rubber and front ring do or protect, I am worried about water intrusion and flooding but have an entire trip to finish and no strobes or lights without these
