Underwater Housing for Canon S-30/40??

9 posts
  1. Can anyone tell if there's an underwater housing unit for the canon S-30/40? I started hearing rumors that there was such a thing, and have been trying to find out for sure since. IF anyone could tell me if one exists and the price, it would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Ok, so now I know UW housing exists, but does anyone know from reading or from personal use if the UW housing for the S-30/40 is good?

  3. I used the WP-DC100 (for the Ixus 300) about 6 months and I liked it. For the money it is a good house but you can't compare it with a Ikelite.

In these 6 months I made about 50 dives without any problems. 4 dives where around 35 meters.

If you clean your house after every dive, do a check before every dive, pay attention to the sealing and don't smass it any hard surface (is this correct english?) then this house is a good start.

Cleaning the house and check it goes for every house but this one needs extra attention.

The other option is: buy a Canon G2 or Nikon 5000.

On the site www.duikfoto.net you can read/see more about the WP-DC100 and Ixus 300.

  4. Thanks for the info Decomike, you have been very helpful. And your reply was in very good english.

  5. Hello,

    I have the S30 with the WP-DC300 W/U case.

I found the case to be very comfortable, You can control all of the functions of the camera and the case is quit small .

The case is good up to 30m.

    Too minor cons. I found:

    1. The case have small positive bouncy.

    2. You cannot use the eye viewfinder w/u.

  6. Hi there,

What about the strobe? Is it of any use once the camera is in the housing? I guess there isn't a possibility of using an external strobe?

    Thanks for your information!

    Stephan

  7. As far as stobes go...

Firstly, the internal flash works quite well!

See a few pics here taken with an S40 on the first dive with it. All with internal flash

Http://uk.photos.yahoo.com/lostaustralian I hope that will give you the idea....

Also, as mentioned above Sea and Sea have accessory lenses/strobe BUT i THINK that the IKELITE one is probably a better strobe as it seems to utilise the pre-flash exposure capability of the camera.
