  1. Maintenance

    Hey folks - new user alert!

    I haven't got my setup yet but am looking at a C5060 with the Olympus housing.

    Just wondering what the general maintance of an uw camera is, or is that all covered in your manual?

    I'm guessing before use I insert freshly charged batteries, check room on CF card, grease O-rings, put camera in housing.

    What about after the dive? I see different methods - some people leave camera in the housing in fresh water to soak, some remove camera but insert lead weight and then close back up and soak, some don't bother soaking at all.

    Which is the best method?

    Also, do I ever wash inside the housing, or just the outside?

    And anti-fog, do I use it or just use sillica pouches?

    Also, if I had the option to buy two 256MB cards, or one 512MB card, which would be better? I am thinking the 2 cards might be better, then if one goes belly up I still have the second to play with?

    Sorry for the dumb newbie questions, and thanks in advance for any replies!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I'm still in the investigative stages of getting myself an uw digi setup, but at this stage I'm looking at an Oly C5060 w Oly PT-020 housing and Oly FL-20 flash with PFL-01 flash housing.
    Any comments before I dump that much cash on a toy are appreciated!
  2. About the cards:
    You probably want to shoot RAW than a 256MB card ist to small.
    The optimal setup is 2 1GB Cards but i would anytime prefere one big card against 2 Cards that i can actually shoot full easyly during one dive.
