5060 solution -Tray?

  1. 5060 solution -Tray?

In considering the Olympus 5060 with all-Olympus solution for UW and flash, I can't find any information about the tray

The PFL-01 shows a (proprietary?) mount point, but I can't find anything that indicates if the "kit" includes a Tray/Arm to mount it on, or if not, what tray arm is needed and where to get it. It would seem pretty silly to not include it, so I think it's there.

Does anyone know if the PFL-01 includes the tray arm to mount it to the PT-020 housing?

Sidebar: Could the Olympus website be any more LAME?. They might as well put out a worldwide advert declaring that they are digitally retarded. It's almost enough to put me off their electronic offerings completely, but I know too many people that have had good results with their offerings to ignore it.

  2. It looks to me like a Sea&Sea YS Strobe adapter, made by ULCS, Sea&Sea, and Inon, would fit.

The PT-020 works well with the ULCS digital tray.

I would encourage you, however, to look at other strobe options. The FL-20's coverage and intensity is rather anemic. While the strobe will cover macro work, I wouldn't expect much more.

There are many easy to use strobe options that will allow both macro and wide angle shooting, and offer a reasonable amount of automation (I assume this is why you were looking at the fl20).

There is a fair amount of confusion re how effective the wide-angle capability will be for the 5060. In particular, the flat port on the Olympus housing wide angle adapter may cause so much distortion that the lens will have to be zoomed to the point that the wide angle is not very wide. It will be interesting to see how Ikelite addresses this problem in their housing design.

Bottom Line: I suggest you rethink an all Olympus solution and instead check out the Ikelite housing, which has real TTL for real strobes, and a dome port for improved wide-angle optics.
