FYI - D100 Aquatica Housing

  1. Haven't seen any mention of this but just in case someone missed it. There's a photo of the Aquatica D100 housing in the Skin Diver 2002 Photo Annual (pg. 100).

  2. Thanks Laz,

I got the photo annual too and noticed this pic. It looks a lot like the F-100 housing to me, which is sweet. Will be nice to be able to put a "big honkin" dome port on there for a 14mm lens.

One thing I wish they would do is put a window on the housing for the popup flash. Since the D-TTL sytem uses preflash, I'd like to see if the Ike strobes can be used to get a TTL exposure.

  3. Me thinks it not only looks like the A100, but is an artist rendering based directly upon the A100 housing. There isn't even a prototype, yet. I think the outer housing shell is being worked on right now with the controls being done as soon as they get their own D100.

  4. Heh, my thoughts exactly Scorpio - but I wasn't brazen enough to say it.

    But now that you have...

It looks like they used the A100 image, made some mods in photoshop, then used the "paint daubs" or some other filter on it.

This is my opinion only and should in no way be construed as a slight against Aquatica. I think they make good products. They can't be expected to make a housing for a camera that hasn't even been released yet.

    Cheers
