agh! I ordered a housing for my D60

  1. I'm both eagerly awaiting it and a bit nervous about the massive cash outlay! Decided on the UK-Germany housing, dome port for my 16-35 wide angle, flat port for the 100mm macro, and housing for the 550EX strobe. All tolled this cost nearly twice what the camera body did!

Fortunately I have a few connections in the dive rag industry and can probably sell some photos. Last year I made $80 this way! Whoo hoo! :)

I should have it in time to get some local dial-in dives with it before my Australia trip in October. Kewl.

  2. Hi Sean,

I really like to see some samples when you get back from that Australia trip. May I ask what camera you were using for digital uw-photography, before you decided on the D60? 2nd Question: How much is the housing in US$ if you order it from Germany to the States. A price for the WA- and the Flat-Port would also be very interesting for our database at www.digideep.com

    Thanks in advance .oOo. Andi

  3. I'll post some samples when I get back. That'll be in November though!

I've used both a Sony DSC-S70 and a Canon S40 for u/w work, and both suffer from similar issues -- too slow being the biggest problem, but limited optics and general lack of control is close behind.

The housing price list is available from their North American distributor if you want the whole thing, ports range from about $150 up to $500, but here's what I got, in US$:

    housing 2464

    100mm macro port 168

    17-35 zoom dome port 486

I also got the Canon 550EX housing, which is $400, but since I already have a 550EX that was actually an inexpensive way to go -- plus I get TTL.
