Ikelite Housing Strobe not firing

3 posts
  1. Hi All,

I was setting up my Ikelite D90 housing on the weekend and once it was all ready to go I test fired the Inon strobe to get no result. Thniking it must be the cable, I changed cables, still no result. Changed strobes, still no result. Cleaned all contacts, still no result. Changed cameras, still no result. Recleaned all contacts, still no result. Tested strobes on older housing, both working fine. Very frustrating.

All I can think it is is the flash cable in the housing. Has anyone else had a similar issue with an Ikelite housing?

    Regards,

    Nigel

  2. Make sure that the part connected to the hot shoe is correctly in position.

You may also find this page helpful to assist you in trouble shooting the problem by allowing you to test fire the strobe.

  3. Using your Ikelite manual and a paper clip, you should short the strobe at various points along the connection path to find the problem. I'd start at the hot shoe connector first. If you can short it there and get it to fire, then it is how you hot shoe is seating on the camera. I had this problem and had to shave a bit off the plastic to get the connections to meet properly.

If this is not the problem, work your way back from the strobe shorting each connection until you find the problem.
