Guadalupe Great Whites - Boat with best cages for photo

For those that have done trips on different boats, which have the best cages for photo. Size & height above base of cage of camera windows important consideration.

Thanks.

I have done only the Solmar V at Guadalupe and found their cages to be fine. They drop two cages off the stern securely bolted to the dive platform using surfaced supplied air (hookla). The top of the cage is just below the surface. The cages measure approx. 10'W X 5'D and 8-7' H. Access is through the top. There is a open area on three sides that starts at about 5' from the bottom and continues to about the 6.5' point. Plenty of open space. Typically they put no more than 4 divers in the cage at once on rotating one hour shifts. Toward the end of the trip, folks start to pass on their spots, so we had 1-2 divers in the gage most times on the last day. Most of us hung out of the cages a good bit of the time to get closer. The sharks seem to know the routine pretty well. There were two shark wranglers on platforms outboard of the cages using fish chunks to attract the sharks.

They also have a submerged cage on a winch and hookla. it goes down to about 30' with two divers and a DM. Most of the time, we stood on top of this cage holding on to the cables to get the best shots.

Attached is a pic of the cages. The left side faces forward toward the stern of the boat.

Hope this helps.
