  1. Nikonos SB-105 with Olympus 5060

    Hi all

Wondering if I can pick some brains here.

Can I use the Nikonos SB-105 with the Olympus 5060 in a PT-020 housing. If so is there any way of getting true TTL compatability between strobe and camera? Heard that these strobes work really well with the nikonos V cameras.

The Ikelite 125 sounds like a great strobe as well.

Has anyone got these combinations at present and what are your thoughts / recommendations

  2. Hi Hamowa,

You can use the SB105 as a slave strobe to your Olympus 5060. You will not be able to get true TTL capability - only the 3 manual power settings on the strobe (which should be plenty).

Set your 5060 to fire the flash in Slave Mode. Get a fiber optic kit from Ryan at Underwater Camera Pros or similar company. Use the diffuser on your SB105 to hold the fiber over the slave sensor on the strobe. You can drill a small hole into the diffuser and "plug" the fiber end plug into there.

    Thanks for the info.

From my research I cannot use any strobe with the PT 020 and have full TTL control.

The nikonos should work well like you say but I feel now that an INON 180 strobe will do a better job.

Same optic cable but the Inon has a lot of smarts such as "advanced cancel circuitry" and "clear photo system" as well as the "focus and target lights"

The INON package looks the goods and I am sure that I will go this way and purchase this light in the next couple of weeks.

  4. I'm sure you will like the Inon strobe Ian.
