Nikon + YS-D1 - Strobe not firing

  1. I feel really stupid having to ask, but would greatly appreciate any help--

I have an Aquatica housing w/ dual Nikonos-style bulkheads for my d700, and after setting everything up w/ two Sea & Sea YS-D1's, I can't seem to do anything to get the strobes to fire? Am i missing something completely w/ how i'm doing this, or setting up the settings on my camera?

    Thank you in advance,

    Peter

  2. Have you checked the micro-switches on your main board? Check your owner's manual on where they need to be set. Also, with N5 cords, you're setting the D1's to either the single or double lightning bolt modes only.

  3. The strobes need to be switched from slave to electrical sync mode.

  4. Thank you very much for the responses.

I found out the problem was my batteries. I was using Sanyo Eneloops plus NiMH 1900mah batteries, but for some reason the ds-1's didn't like them, no idea why. The light would flash back and forthe between red and green, and even the target light would work, but the flash would not fire. I purchased energizer AA batteries and it got my strobes to work properly instantly.

Does anyone know why this might happen?

    Thank you,

    Peter

  5. They probably just weren't taking a charge. the flashing lights are a low battery warning.
