  1. Look at the WHOIS for the site though:

    Domain Name: CANONUSAPRESSROOM.COM

    Registrar: GO DADDY SOFTWARE, INC.

    Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com

    Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com

    Name Server: NS2.CENTRIC.COM

    Name Server: NS1.CENTRIC.COM

    Status: ACTIVE

    Updated Date: 18-sep-2003

    Creation Date: 18-sep-2003

    Expiration Date: 18-sep-2005

    Seems a bit odd. :?

  2. Yeah -- someone on dpreview pointed that out.

I wonder if they spoof everything, or if they are trying to actually serve up a history of Canon press releases?

I'm having problems figuring out the point. :)

  3. I was wondering the same thing. Why bother? Maybe to get Canon to offer to buy the domain?

  4. You made a small mistake: your Whois Quote shows the Registrar (The company that is running the register service) only, not the Registrant (The Person/Comp. that has the rights on the domain)

    Here is the right entry:

    Domain servers in listed order:

    NS1.CENTRIC.COM

    NS2.CENTRIC.COM

Centric seems to be a California Based Advertisment Company, so it is not impossible, that the site is legit.

  5. Hmmmm. Whatever the case, it's weird.
