Lovely new z220s but one question.

  1. Lovely new z220s but one question.

I received my new strobe today and I've managed to set it up despite a manual all in Japanese. I'm hooking up the strobe with the optical cord to a 5050 in a PT-015.

One thing has me stumped tho and it's the magnetic switch. Into which hole do I place this?

  2. If you shoot with the 5050 flash on "slave" mode, no pre-flash, you don't need the magnet.

  3. Lovely. Thanks Herb

  4. Thanks, that makes things slightly clearer.

Now one more question; on the Z220 there are positions on the mode swtich for the cable "A" and "X". On the Z220s there are still two positions but one is marked "ON" and the other position has just a dot. I can't see any difference between the two when I've experimented with them. I'm assuming that this is just a legacy of using the same parts as the Z220 and there is no difference. Is this the case.

The two positions on a Z220 are to switch the modelling light on and off when used with a compatible housing. Since the Z220s doesn't have a focus light or a target light I would guess you would leave it in the ON position. They've probably been left there because theoretically you can upgrade the Z220s to a Z220.

  6. FYI, I have a c-5050/PT-015/Z-220 and figured out a solution to enable the Z-220 focus light and aiming laser with a half-shutter press of the 5050 in low light. Eric will probably post it within a week...
