Ok, I am going to Fiji and I need to plug in my laptop and my battery chargers. Fiji is 240-50Hz. My laptop power converter says it has an input of 100-240V 50/60Hz, so I am assuming it will work without a transformer and only a plug adapter, am I right or do I still need a transformer?
For my chargers I think will need a converter and a plug adapter. Something that will convert 240 to 110 and 50 to 60, and then the Austrailian style plug adapters.
What do all of you use? I found an int'l converter and universal plug adaptor at www.thomas-distributing.com but I am not sure if this is what I need. Does Radioshack have any of this? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.
Your laptop should be all right. I use a international travel transformer that I picked up at the airport a few years ago but they're available at Radio Shack. A couple of extension cords of the type that have multiple outlets will come in handy. I plug the transformer into the wall outlet, the extension cord into the transformer and then my chargers with US plugs into the extension cord.

Is your transformer 2 prong (ungrounded) or 3 prong (grounded) on both sides? Cause the short extension cords are 2 prong and the power strip/surge protectors are 3 prong, I am deciding between the two.
The transformer is 2 prong on both sides. If you use a power strip, just get a plug adapter.
Delta05,
I just returned from Beqa Island, Fiji and had no problems with my ibook and ipod. For Apple I just had to switched out the plug for Fiji one. You should be fine with just the plug adapter. Others in our group hand notebooks but I don't know what they used. Most of their outlets were grouned and smone were not. Take both types if you can.
Have fun!!
Make sure the power strip you take does not have any surge suppressor circuitry, or a circuit breaker built in. If it does, it will smoke when you plug it into 220v.
