The modelling light has burnt out one of my DS125's does anyone now if this is an owner changeable bulb or if it needs to go back to a dealer ?
Also if it needs to go to a dealer any ideas on who would be the best bet in the UK ?
Finally the strobe is under 6 mths and has had very little use. Has anyone else experienced similar problems or have ideas what might have caused it ?
The main strobe still fires fine and I have been very happy with the results.
Many Thanks.
It is user-changeable. One of mine has gone out as well, and I've not had the time to fix it.
However, I found that the insides fell apart when I disassembled mine, and it wasn't the easiest thing to line up to put back together. Anyone have experience otherwise?
Hi,
The modelling lamp is just like an Ikelite flashlight bulb and easy to replace. You can get replacement bulbs from your dealer.
Like Eric said, there are a lot of little washers that you have to replace when you change the bulb - I think they are spacers or something. You unscrew the lamp holder and pull it (and the lamp and washers) out. If you have trouble, give Ikelite or your dealer a call.
Burnout can be caused by bumping and jouncing of the strobe, or just by use - it's a tiny flashlight bulb and burns very hot.
Cheers
James
Burnout bay be caused because the bulbs are not the greatest quality. We went to a lower intensity bulb to extend battery life, but do see more failures than with our normal flashlights. Drop me an e-mail and I can send replacement no charge. When all else fails, read the instruction manual on how easy it is to replace.............
Thanks you for all the advice I definitely will dig out my manual before I grab the screwdriver, but it always nice to know some one else has successfully completed the job.
Cheers,
Rob
IMO, if you have trouble doing this, there's a good chance that you're not doing it right. There are only two parts involved: 1 bulb and one threaded piece that holds the bulb.
