  1. hello pixelers,

i am heading for Cuba, and need advice from you who visited before. I will be on liveaboard in Jardines dela reina, and need some tips about getting shots of those carribean sharks and large groupers. anyone has experience how close do they come? should i expect really close encounters for 10-17 tokina lens or are they somewhat shy for something like less wide lenses? also, do i really need to take macro kit also? most of the dives would be shark-ish, is it worth to do some strictly macro dives? thanks very much

  2. Sharks get close to you there , specially the silkies at the surface . Some of the jewfish and black groupers get really close .Yes the 10-17mm is a very suitable lens for Jardines .

The place is more prolific for wide angle but is also good for fish portraits, so the 60mm or (even better ) the Sigma 17-70 are a must go lens. With the 60mm you can cover some interesting macro subjects that you can find there, like sailfin blennies .

It's a very special place , for sure you will like it

    Good luck

    JA
