sardine run?

  1. hia,

just booked a sardine run trip for this summer - just wondered if anyone has advise on lenses for FF? option is pretty much 15mm fisheye or 16-35. not sure i fancy the 10inch dome for the 16-35.......

  2. I used a fisheye solidly through my 2 weeks of Sardine Run. Got great results.

  3. cheers!

  4. When you going Ibs?

  5. I personally like the 16-35 over 15mm for visibility over 8m, especially if you are on a boat with a bunch of other people sharing action. You want to get closer without being in the way. Corners aren't going to be of concern as your subjects will be more centered. I'm still not too happy with the 1.4x + 8-15, but it does create good range.

  6. Second what Drew said. My first year I used a DX 10.5mm and found it slightly too wide. The following year is was a DX 10-17mm mostly at the 17mm end. Last few years I've gone the DX 12-24mm route mostly at the 24mm end. FX this year and will definitely use the 16-35mm. Gives you the option to go tight on the birds diving or go wide if something big swims in. Fisheye can work but limits your potential shot list. (9 inch Zen dome works fine)
