Sync Cord for Ike G5 Housing & Inon Z220??

  1. Sync Cord for Ike G5 Housing & Inon Z220??

I've decided to go for the Inon Z220 for my G5 in Ike housing. Apart from using TTL slave sensor, what types of sync cord do I need if I want to connect the Z220 to the bulkhead on the Ike housing.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Z-220 requires "Sea & Sea Strobe Cord N" sync cord. In this case, the housing should be fitted with a standard Nikonos 5 pin bulkhead connector.

Ikelite may offer alternatives to this.

  3. At this stage there is no sync cord available to connect an Inon Z220 to an Ike housing.

Ikelite have in the past indicated one will be available in Jan, then it was Feb, then at the end of March, and now that it's April....who knows.

  4. Panda story sounds like what I said to our screw machine supplier except I included last November and December to the list of months. We may finally shame him into delivery of the last part needed............

  5. Magic. :)

    Give 'em heaps Ike.

  6. No one seems to be able to help me with it and I can't wait anymore. Am going to Manado/Bunaken, Indonesia, on the 1st of May.

Despite my preference for the Z220 (well...mainly due to good reviews and most importantly it's the size that matters most to me), I've placed an order for an Ikelite DS125 (it was my second choice) with smart charger/sync cord/arm set, etc with the local disti last week. In fact, a few of us did so. I hope it is the right decision.

I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I don't have much time to test it out on short trip before the Indonesia trip, hopefully everything goes well.

With Ike quality, I am optimistic I look forward to be delighted. Cheers.

  7. > >Yes, 4103.51 will work with the #6143 housing for Canon G5

Much to my dissapointment, I was not able to make use of my newly acquired DS125 strobe with Ike TTL sync cord. This is despite having the above confirmation from Ike on using the TTL sync cord and DS125 for my Canon G5 in a Ike G5 housing. I ended up shooting using internal flash throughout the entire trip.... :)

After connecting the sync cord to the bulkhead on the G5 housing and the DS125 strobe, and connecting the internal cable on Ike housing to the camera hotshoe, the G5 internal flash does not function at all.

    Did I missed something?

  8. Motz is reporting normal behavior. Canon camera disables the internal flash when anything is connected to their hot shoe. You didn't say if the DS-125 failed to fire.............

  9. Ike, when properly connected, the DS125 did not fire. :)

It is fully charged so we can discount weak battery out. The modelling light is ok. It fired once on its own when I turn the power ON each time while connected.

I suspect it has something to do with the hotshoe on the housing, and the camera setting.

You've confirmed that it works, pls give details how I can get it right.

  10. Send your email address to me at my address below and I will forward you a list of items to check. For example, does strobe fire when you short from the side contact of hot shoe to its center pin when not inserted in the camera?

  11. Will do.

    Many thanks.

  12. Did your issue get resolved? I am very interested as I am about to go with a similar set-up

  13. Motz had one of the early housings, a few of which we reversed polarity of the hot shoe that slides into the camera because assembly types were not told it made a difference. We replaced his entire housing............
