Sea & Sea YS-D1 Strobe's Diffuser Lanyard connection?

8 posts
  1. It is easy to connect the lanyard string supplied with the YS-D1 to the diffuser. However, the manual shows attaching the strobe end to the YS adapter. I am using the ball connector so cannot find anyplace to attach the strobe end of the string lanyard.

Any ideas where to attach the string so that I don't lose the diffuser when underwater?

  2. attach the string to the diffuser by tying a know (I used a bowline) , then at the other end do the same thing leaving a small loop. When installing the strobe pull the amount of string between the diffuser and the loose loop through the loose loop creating a larger loop to pass the ball mount's base through this new loop, attach strobe to arm and snug up loop.

  3. The D1 has a small loop molded into the body specifically for securing the lanyard that the diffuser comes with....

I have been looking very hard for those small molded loops (with monocular contacts so I may have missed it) but cannot find them.

Can you post a picture (blown up hopefully) so I can find those loops??

    Thanks.

  5. Looking at the strobe from the front, (looking at the flash tube) the molded ring is on the right side very close to where the ball adapter goes and just underneath the "Made in Japan" logo. PM me if you need the photo.

    Thanks Bill.

Once you pointed out the correct place, it is easy to see. I guess I thought that it was clear plastic instead of a hole and with my not so great vision, it was hard to see it.

    Thanks again,

  7. i cannot post new threads yet so sorry if this is the wrong spot for this.

I have some ysd1s paired up to my Aquatica mkiii housing and Im noticing the cables are not bottoming out on the camera side. They seem threaded down all the way but there are still threads visible. Is this normal?

  8. Yes, that's normal. They do not bottom out.
