In terms of handling and ease of use in changing ports, lenses, batteries and memory, etc......what are the pros and cons of having the camera mounted to the rear deck (Ikelite)vs. mounted into the main housing body (most others)?
Karl
It is easier to take the camera out of the housing and use it, if it is on a tray.
Thanks Dave, that never occured to me..........that's why I asked the question........thanks for giving it some thought!
Karl
Karl: You know my thoughts on this one.
Design philosophy should be that the housing is easy to open and service the camera. The user should only have to pop a couple of latches and then be able to change batteries and media card. The housings with "quick shoes" make this extra easy, but are not a necessity.
Cheers
James
I might vote for camera installation in the housing body, but experience dictates buttons and control operation tolerances can be better controlled by attaching the camera to the back as we have done on most digital housings. Remember, the need for changing film and batteries is greatly reduced with the digital cameras.............

OK, happy with the film part of this statement, but the batteries?!!? Yeah, the battery change interval is so much less with my 10D than my film EOS body - NOT!
