First attempt at over under

5 posts
  1. so this was first attempt of an over under. on first look at the pic i felt there was something missing but the more i look at it the more it grows on me. is there any way to improve this or can anyone else see something missing like my first impressions?

    Taken on a Nikon D200 with 10-17 f4.5 1/50 iso100

  2. I think its a fair first effort and I do like the freshwater setting you have chosen.

On the critique side there is a lot of chroma. Would like to see it done with the sun behind you.

    Cheers,

    Jim.

  3. Jim has it: almost all successful split shots have the sun behind the camera, which evens up the exposure and gives a f-stop that has a reasonable depth of field to sharpen the background when focussed on the underwater element. I know that it's hard on a D200, but raising the iso can help.

Because of the trees and riverbanks, freshwater split shots are harder to expose than beaches and reefs, just because there's less light. So: well done!

  4. Thanks guys, that is useful to know. i will keep it in mind next time.

    Much appreciated

  5. nice one!
