  1. Sigma 12-24 and Aquatica D100

    Hi

Is anybody using the above combination? Is it possible? Does Aquatica make a zoom gear for this lens? Trying to answer a query from someone, wondered if anyone here knew.

    Thanks

    Chris Lee

  2. i ve heard and seen bad things about this zoom, if you can , choose the nikon 12/24 or even the 14 mm Sigma , more sharpness, manner vignetting

  3. Hi Chris,

If the person has already purchased this lens, then contact Aquatica at blake@aquatica.ca or norma@aquatica.ca

They can probably make a zoom gear and recommend the appropriate extension ring for the Sigma 12-24.

    Sincerely,

    James Wiseman

  4. Thanks James

I have emailed Blake already. Seems not many have requested it as yet.

    Cheers

    Chris

  5. Hi,

I can not say anything about the lens in combination with Aquatica housing.

But I've done a lot of shots with the lens and compared it to my Sigma 15-30.

In my opinion the big downside of this lens is that it is also designed for full frame.

Which is of course a nice feature to have 12mm on slide or full frame DSLR.

The required optical corrections for such a focal length are pretty high. I guess if they would have built it straight for cropped DSLRs only it would be better. To me it's a compromise lens because they tried to cover the full frame.

compared to my Sigma 15-30 it's noticeably less sharp, less resolution, even stopped down. Built quality is very OK and nice HSM.

To get equiv. 19mm WW on my cropped Canon DSLR I have no other choice for the time being. :(

For Nikon you have. And I really suggest the Nikon 12-24 would make you more happy. :)
