The reefs where beautiful – the healthiest I’ve seen in a long time. I imagine I could have found a million things to photograph, but instead I came home with a thousand blurry shark pictures.
Nice gallery of shots........I'd be proud of those, especially with a new camera!
Looks like a great destination!
Karl
Thanks,
Yes, Sudan is a great destination, and I did get some good shots.
During the trip there was a strong emphasis on looking at and photographing sharks. I really did come home with close to a thousand pictures of sharks. Most of which were (technically) really bad, and even the good ones were quite dull to look at. I wish I had looked more for other things.
I had a new camera. In terms of camera controls and settings I was well prepared, but it seems I forgot some basic things – like holding the still and not letting the shutter speed get too slow.
I like shot No.13 of the Jacks, did you get any Hamerhead shots
No, not me, but I think everyone else did. ;-)
I saw hammerheads on on two dives, but only briefly and too far away.
Hi!
Nice visibility. I hade close to zero visibility when diving there in october 2002.
The macros are well lit. I also like the composition of some of the wreck shots (Umbria, I think). The ambient light WA shots definitely lack some color. Most of the available light shots seem to be underexposed a bit too. I think that you get much more out of it with one or two strong flash units.
BTW, I had to laugh about the staircase shot inside Sanganeb lighthouse. I've taken nearly the same (just with a 180° fisheye).
Helge ;-)=)
As I understand it: If you dive Sudan in the winter you get strong winds, low visibillity (plankton) and lots of sharks and mantas (and other plankton eaters). In the summer it's too hot - nobody dives there then. The best time to go is spring and autumn.
The last 10 pictures in the album is from the Umbria.
Yes, I came home with a lot of underexposed pictures...
I too, liked the jacks, but I also liked the composition of the barracuda. Nice gallery!
